![]() He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Construction Association. Gord is an active member of the Winnipeg construction community and has served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Western Canada Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at University of Manitoba in 1985, his Professional Engineer designation in 1987 and his Gold Seal Certificate in Project Management from the Canadian Construction Association in 1999. He was appointed President and CEO in 2002. Gord has been with the company since 1985 and has served in several different capacities during his career. We are grateful to have been acknowledged for their unwavering commitment to the company's success. These recognitions are due to the dedicated efforts of our people, who take pride in their work and put in the effort to complete all of our projects with the highest standard of quality. We are thankful to have be recognized by our industry peers and regulators with a number of prestigious awards. In 1972, we got a little creative and developed our current logo, it was presented with the catch phrase “Something New for 1972”. It was during a game of bridge that the founding owners of the company decided to call the company Nelson River Construction Company Limited. ![]() The origin of our current name came out of a gentlemen’s gathering where a past generation of owners would get together to unwind and talk business. Although many would think the company’s name originates from the river of the same name, which is located in Northern Manitoba that is not the case. Incorporated in 1923, Nelson River Construction was originally known as Fowler & Young Contracting Engineers.
